The American Indian community here at CSUSM, through the American Indian Studies department, the California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center, the excellent work of our staff and students, is an active and impactful presence on campus and in the state and nation. With engaging community events centered around Indigenous identity and culture, groundbreaking research, and notable accomplishments in a variety of disciplines, including STEM, fine arts, media, and government/politics, we continually strive to celebrate and champion American Indian culture, representation, sovereignty, inclusion, and educational achievement, which is reflected in the programming and individual and collective contributions showcased in this section.
