Campus field trips

K-12 districts

 

Brings 7th and 10th grade students to the CSUSM for a tour of the campus and overview of the guaranteed admission agreement. Counselors plan the trips with staff in Admissions & Recruitment (cberber@csusm.edu for 7th grade and kfbutler@csusm.edu for 10th grade). Please see our website to sign up or view the FAQ.

College readiness road shows (school assemblies)

K-12 districts

Connects 8th grade students with CSUSM students in an assembly designed and facilitated by Alliance Ambassadors. The goals of the assemblies are to: 1) Emphasize the benefits of the guaranteed admissions agreement, 2) Highlight requirements for college acceptance, and 3) Get students excited about attending college.

Checklist of Alliance participation requirements

Counselors’ Forum

K-12 Districts

 

Creates a space for high school and middle school counselors from all Alliance districts to come together to focus on meeting the needs of the whole student – academic, cognitive, social, and emotional – and to discuss best practices in helping districts and students achieve the goals set forth by Memoranda of Understanding. Next Forum will be held April 20, 2017.

Ambassador program

CSUSM

Provides a 4-year working scholarship to five Alliance students each year. At full capacity, the program supports 20 students (freshman through senior) who work within the Alliance to support programs and initiatives. Applications are due in June annually, and Ambassadors are chosen after a paper screening and two face-to-face interviews. Family Welcome Reception

CSUSM

Welcomes incoming Alliance freshmen and their families to CSUSM and occurs annually at the end of June. Graduating seniors who meet the criteria in the guaranteed admissions agreement will receive an invitation to the Welcome Reception in early June. The program includes brief introductions from key personnel across the university, provides contact information for those personnel, and introduces campus resources that students might access when they arrive for their first year.  The next Welcome Reception will be held on June 27, 2017.

Alliance Meet Ups (AMUs)

CSUSM

Provides a monthly meeting place for Alliance students to connect/meet each other, learn about services offered on campus, engage in thoughtful conversations about meaningful topics, eat a healthy lunch, and understand how The Alliance can support them.
