CSUSM and ASCM San Diego have developed this Professional Certificate in Operations Resource Management to help update your knowledge of supply chain and operations management skills. This program provides the information and skills needed to be better informed and effective in today’s globally competitive business environment.

    Course Details

    • Classes held Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m.
    • ZOOM will be used for all class sessions
    • CSUSM Community Container will be used for online resources
    • Each course is $769, or the entire program is $4,614
    • Classes may be taken in any order, allowing you to complete your certificate in just over 12 months
    • A passing grade of C- or better is required to receive the certificate and successfully complete the program
    • NAPM has approved each course for three points toward a CPM designation

    Inventory Management

    Develop the operational knowledge and understanding of inventory management principles and techniques, roles and responsibilities, and the impact that inventory can have on a business.

    Manufacturing Management

    This course aims to provide fundamental knowledge and understanding of the core concepts necessary to effectively manage activities related to planning, scheduling and controlling manufacturing processes.

    • Capacity planning and management

    Global Sourcing Supply Chain Management

    It is a global marketplace and this course will help you navigate the complex and changing landscape of international business. Companies and organizations need skilled operations management and supply chain professionals in today’s intensely competitive global marketplace. The course provides a comprehensive study of the critical competencies and challenges associated with international sourcing and procurement

    Distribution and Logistics

  • INSTRUCTORS

    Sanford (Sandy) Friedman, BS, MS, MBA, CFPIM, CIRM, PMP, ITIL

    Sanford (Sandy) Friedman is currently providing Supply Chain and Operations Management education and serving as a consultant and advisor for several initiatives including a new comprehensive eco-sustainability program. Throughout his career, Sandy has demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in leadership, project and program management, consulting and applications development in biomedical, healthcare, pharmaceutical, aerospace and defense, government and microelectronics industries. He has demonstrated outstanding program management and leadership qualities in developing and implementing information management systems, PMO methodologies, enterprise-wide business systems and processes, commercial products and strategic alliances. He has directed international project teams and managed budgets upwards of $200 million. Sandy is a frequent lecturer for ASCM and PMI, has been a featured speaker at several conferences and symposia, and has taught at San Diego State University, UC San Diego, CSU San Marcos, CSU Fullerton, CSU Dominguez Hills and at USC. Sandy holds a BS from UCLA, an MS from the University of Iowa, an MBA from Boston University and holds CFPIM, CIRM, PMP and ITIL certifications. 

    Homero Escandón CSCP-F, CLTD-F, CPIM, LSSMBB, PMP, CPDW, CSQP

    Homero has over 24 years of experience in Operations and Supply Chain roles across multiple industries. He is currently Vice President of Manufacturing (Opex & Supply Chain) for Biotix, Inc. – a world class manufacturer of laboratory consumables and liquid handling solutions. He is also currently President of ASCM San Diego Chapter. Homero has previously held the positions of Director of Logistics; Sr. Manager, Warehouse & Logistics; Logistics Manager; and Logistics Engineering Manager. He has worked for companies such as Northrop Grumman, LISI Aerospace, and United Technologies Corporation.  Homero spent 11 years active duty in the United States Marine Corps, including two deployments to Iraq in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

    Homero is a Lead Lean Instructor at Biotix and an ASCM/APICS Master Instructor.  He is on the advisory board for the National University BA in Management; and the UCSD Extension specialized certificate in Supply Management.  In his time away from work, teaching, & volunteering; Homero enjoys cooking, bike riding, hiking, watching 80's movies, and reading.

    Kim Kohler, CPIM, CSCP

    Kim has over 20 years of experience in the supply chain field. She has held positions in manufacturing, procurement, production planning, and project management. She is currently working as the senior buyer for Argonaut Manufacturing. Argonaut is a contract manufacturer for biopharmaceutical, diagnostics, and life science organizations. Kim has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire. While science is her background, supply chain is her passion. Kim is a master instructor, teaching at Cal State San Marcos Extented Learning, and serving on the Board of Directors as VP of Education for the San Diego Chapter. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with others interested in supply chain and operations. Outside of supply chain, Kim enjoys painting in watercolor, traveling, and working out. Kim has also been a tour guide in China, Germany, and Spain.

    Yes, this program is valid for 35 PDCs for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

This certificate program offers evening classes and the flexibility to take classes in any order, with the possibility to complete the entire certificate in just over 12 months

If you have already earned your CPIM, each ORM class is worth 24 APICS recertification points

NAPM approved courses

Each course meets one evening per week for 10 weeks and is approved by the National Association of Purchasing Management (NAPM) for three points each toward your Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation
