  • With prior approval, course work will fulfill business major requirements.

  • The business-related subjects are taught in weekly blocks of two hours each. Apart from attending lectures, students are expected to spend a considerable amount of time on preparation for classes and exams. • Basic Dutch language courses available as part of the exchange.

  • Free orientation before classes start; includes information on residence permit procedures, the distribution of timetables, a meeting with the Country Coordinator, tours and social events.

Academic Focus

  • This program is geared toward Global Business Management students, however other Business students may apply with the permission of their department chair.
  • Teaching is very practical and experiential in nature.  Many courses will require extensive outside research, group projects/presentations, and written assignments.
  • Flexibility in terms of course scheduling will be key.  Some courses may be offered for 8 weeks, others for 12, others for the full 16 week semester.

Language of Instruction

English

Requirements

  • Class Level:  Upper-division status (completion of 60 units)
  • GPA of 2.75 or above and good academic standing to departure.
  • Prerequisites:  Some courses will require previous course work.  All Business majors should already have completed their Pre-Core course work at CSUSM before enrolling at AUAS.

Units

15 semester units.  Typically this will be between 6-10 classes/semester.  Enrollment in 5 ECT unit courses or a combination of 5 ECT + 3 ECT unit courses is strongly recommended to attempt meeting the 4 unit CSUSM Business requirements.  Taking a 5 ECT unit course alone may clear a course requirement, but you may find yourself deficient in units.  Discuss your options with your Option Chair and CoBA advisor well before applying.

Housing

Private apartments within an easy commute of campus.  Various options are available on the AUAS Housing page.  Early application is encouraged.

Estimated Expense

  • Students pay their normal State University Fee to CSU San Marcos, currently $3,858/semester.  No tuition or fees due at AUAS.
  • No on-campus residence. Apartments $600-900 per month, depending on type of accommodation
  • Health Insurance: $265/semester.
  • Residence Permit Fees: 311 Euro, roughly $350
  • Cost of meals and personal expenses will vary, but average $500 per month.
