SOE Masters Programs

How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in applying to one of our Masters programs within the School of Education at CSUSM. To be considered for Fall 2019 admissions, applicants must submit the online Cal State Apply application by Friday, May 31, 2019 at 5pm PST along with the $55 application fee.

The Cal State Apply application will include the standard University requirements as well as the specific School of Education requisite materials that will determine your eligibility for the program. Note: You will no longer need to submit an additional supplemental application.

For Fall 2019, we will be accepting applications for the following programs:

The Step-by-Step Cal State Apply Guides as well as admissions eligibility for each program can be found below.

  • Master of Arts in Education

     

    The Master of Arts in Education degree is designed for K-12 credentialed teachers who want to refine their professional education knowledge, skills and dispositions.

    To apply to the program for Fall 2019, we recommend reviewing the Step-by-Step Application Guide that can be accessed HERE to ensure that your information and all documents are submitted correctly.

    Prospective students must submit the Cal State Apply application and upload the required documents that will be reviewed by the School of Education under the “Program Materials” section by May 31, 2019. Applicants should have the following documents accessible in order to upload before starting your application:

    1. Verification of your Initial Teaching Credential.
    2. Statement of Purpose describing interest in the program, as well as how the program fulfills personal, educational, and career objectives.
    3. Two (2) Names and Email Addresses of persons that have agreed to supply Letter(s) of Recommendation to the program on your behalf.
    4. Copies of Unofficial Transcripts from institutions where you earned your bachelors degree and credential. Unofficial Transcripts from CSUSM are not required.
    5. You will also be required to pay the $55 Application Fee in order to submit your Cal State Apply Application.

     

    After you have successfully submitted your Cal State Apply application, you will receive an automated confirmation email. Within 2-3 business days, you will also receive an automated email from CSUSM Office of Admissions and Student Outreach as well as information regarding your Interview/Orientation.

    Once you’ve submitted your Cal State Apply application, please also submit (1) copy of official transcript(s) from each college or university you’ve attended. Please refer to the Step-by-Step Application Guide for instructions on how to submit Official Transcripts.

    Admissions decisions will be sent out before the end of June 2019.

  • Master of Arts in Educational Administration

    The Master of Arts in Educational Administration degree is a 12-month accelerated program where candidates will participate in a “blended" delivery with twice-monthly face-to-face Saturday classes; and weekly online, asynchronous coursework.

    To apply to the program for Fall 2019, we recommend reviewing the Step-by-Step Application Guide that can be accessed HERE to ensure that your information and all documents are submitted correctly.

    Prospective students must submit the Cal State Apply application and upload the required documents that will be reviewed by the School of Education under the “Program Materials” section by May 31, 2019. Applicants should have the following documents accessible in order to upload before starting your application:

    1. Verification of your initial Teaching Credential.
    2. Statement of Purpose describing the leadership skills you have developed prior to the Educational Administration program and what you hope to learn in this program as a practicing leader. 

    3. Verification of Employment on district or personnel letterhead confirming a minimum of four (4) years of teaching experience.
    4. Two (2) Names and Email Addresses of persons that have agreed to supply Letter(s) of Recommendation to the program on your behalf.
    5. Copies of Unofficial Transcripts from institutions where you earned your bachelors degree and credential. Unofficial Transcripts from CSUSM are not required.
    6. You will also be required to pay the $55 Application Fee in order to submit your Cal State Apply Application.

  • Master of Arts in Special Education

    The Master of Arts in Special Education degree is specifically designed for teachers who hold a valid basic teaching credential that are seeking both a master’s degree and a career path in special education. Applicants interested in this program must be a graduate of the CSUSM Concurrent program or CSUSM Add-On program.

    To apply to the program for Fall 2019, we recommend reviewing the Step-by-Step Application Guide that can be accessed HERE to ensure that your information and all documents are submitted correctly.

    Prospective students must submit the Cal State Apply application and upload the required documents that will be reviewed by the School of Education under the “Program Materials” section by May 31, 2019.
