The 2021-22 academic year marks the 30th anniversary for Extended Learning at Cal State San Marcos! As we get ready to celebrate, see how far we have come.
 

1960

California State University System established

1989

CSUSM established as the 20th campus in the CSU system

1990

First classes begin at CSUSM (fall semester)

1991-92

1992

Extended Studies administers first Summer Session program with 23 courses

 

Open University courses first offered, 16 students enrolled

 

American Language and Culture Institute founded

1997

Foundation Classroom Building opens to alleviate overcrowding

2003

Human Resources Certificate

 

Supervising Employees Certificate

2004

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute launches with 175 members and 28 courses

 

Meeting and Event Planning Certificate

2006-07

First degree offered through Extended Studies: Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a cohort of 42 students

2007

Extended Studies becomes Extended Learning

CSUSM at Temecula established at the Paul Goldring Garrett Institute for Higher Learning
